About THE PROJECT

This project is a proof-of-concept 3D anamorphic billboard advertisement created to demonstrate a novel approach for introducing the Apple Vision Pro. The project utilized Blender for all modeling and animation, with the fSpy plugin used to precisely determine the camera perspective required to generate the anamorphic illusion. The resulting visual content was composited in After Effects to finalize the presentation of a spatial device through advanced digital advertising.

Key Accomplishments

Precise Perspective Mapping:

Successfully leveraged the fSpy plugin within Blender to reverse-engineer the required camera lens and angle. This was critical to accurately render the 3D scene from a specific vanishing point, validating the technical feasibility of the anamorphic illusion on a large-scale format.

Demonstration of Spatial Media:

Designed the visual content to illustrate the core concept of the Vision Pro as a spatial computing device. The anamorphic effect was chosen as a technical solution to visually break the traditional flat plane of the billboard, conceptually aligning the advertisement's form with the product's function.

Technical Modeling and Animation:

Developed complex 3D models and animations within the virtual environment that, when viewed from the calibrated perspective, achieve a 90-degree illusion of depth and form, effectively demonstrating the future potential of immersive digital signage.

Challenges & Learnings

The primary challenge involved the iterative process of camera calibration and scene alignment in Blender. Ensuring the 3D render precisely matched the real-world viewing geometry of the target billboard required repeated adjustments and render passes to eliminate distortion and maintain the integrity of the illusion across the viewing sweet spot.
